This Pickerel Weed Plant (Pontederia) gave me many hours of joy this summer. Its beautiful green leaves float just above the pond's water. However when the blooms appear, they shoot about a foot into the air. It is truly a sight to see.
Recently, Roschell at Sagacious Rambling published an article on her blog that remind me why I research my post so extensive. I want the information I give to others to be entertaining, informative, and, to the best of my knowledge, correct. That is my dream. I hope you have your own dream-your own passion.
Like this Pickerel Weed bloom, our body may float just above the water. But, when we create, when we follow out dream, our minds shot a foot into the air. And the result is something beautiful and sometimes great.

Please feel free to post your dream along with your comment. If you cannot think of one, today might be a good day to slow down and focus on you.

Your post reminded me of the surprise lilies that grew in our back garden when I was a child. There would be nothing there, then all of a sudden I'd go out one morning, and there would be the most beautiful blossoms!
A life with no dreams isn't much of a life. To see the beauty in each day, to feel its possibilities and make something of them...bliss!
Very nice captures!
Beautiful flower!

What a great post! You are really living up to that dream. I love analogies to the natural world, and I've never seen this kind of pond flower.
My current dream is one I've been working on since January and even before. I know that depression is the nation's most frequent and common health problem, and too many doctors are relying on prescription drugs to relieve it. I'm partway through writing an ebook that offers natural suggestions as an alternative to treatment with strong chemical based drugs. So my dream is to be able to actually finish the book and market it successfully totally online.
Very pretty. I guess right now I'm in my dream, being able to just go places and take photos. Now, if it could just pay my house note because I'm between jobs and that was not part of the dream.
:-)
I enlarged your picture and saw HOW beautiful your flower really is! Gerat shot! I think I saw similar flowers near ponds or rivers, I love the colour so very much!
I think my flower is an amaryllis
What is my dream? I don't know, maybe that life stays on as is. At the moment, life is very convenient and I don't dream of anything new. At the moment!! :)
My last dream/wish was to stop smoking and that I managed 6 months ago, and now I am trying to get along with the negative consequences of non smoking like putting on too much weight, getting a mild depression, being more ill tempered at times...
But I've lost 10 pounds, make more physical exercise, and try to walk the dog in the fresh air as often as possible. :)
hello, McKay
this is very nice. I am grateful to share and participate.
hugs
What a neat flower to show today. Here it is November and I already dream of Spring.
An honourable goal! Maybe that is why I usually make my own "supplements" to my pictures as short and to the point as I can?
What a beautiful flower. I am happy you research them, I should do more of that when I can't identify one. You have taught me something new as I see this plant at a local pond, have taken photos of it but never gone further in identifying it. Need to slow down. My dreams? Your words are wise, we all need to have dreams. I have my dreams but I can't share them at the moment. Hopefully when they are realized I will be back to tell you about them :) In the meantime, I enjoy visiting here. You are teaching us so much with your wisdom. Sometimes we need to slow up and smell the roses don't we? To see what is truly important in life.
We always must dream!
Beautiful Nature and nice colors.
Hi McKay K,
Beautiful post and flower. The color of that bloom is my favorite of all the colors in any garden. Like the tendency of that flower, my dream is to shoot way up into the air. Then I want my life to explode like fireworks on the 4th of July. And when my blessing start to fall back down to earth, I want them to land on my family, my friends, and on all who are looking skyward. That is my dream !
I don't think I have seen this original flower before. I'm sure it loo sgreat in a garden.
What a pretty bloom this is. I really love the color. Thanks for giving us the added info too! Blessings...
Happy Today's flowers. Thanks for sharing. Mine is at http://srikebakat.blogspot.com
A lovely tall purple flower! I can see why it brought you such joy this summer.
Lovely pond flower that I am not familiar with however it is the color that I admire most in my garden!
What is my dream..well I got to fullfill a life long dream this summer and was blessed in walking the great master MONET's garden..and I posted about it recently!
for now:
I am so pleased to join the community of Todays Flowers group! NG
Such a beautiful flower, it makes me wonder what it smells like.
My dream? Where I live I see and hear a great deal of negativity, there is a huge devide betweeen the have's and have not's. So I am writing a book on personal empowerment for Caribbean people and when completed (feb 09) I want to have it published.
A beautiful flower - tall and stately!
My dream:
“What I am after as an artist is to see around the bend of my life as I have lived it to date, and catch a glimpse of what may lay ahead. Or above. Or beyond. Or beneath.” (Peter London)
Dreams are relative - as the time goes by, we try to adjust our dreams to the reality, but the most important thing is to keep our dreams alive.
Thank you for your comment and for sharing such a beautiful flower.
Greetings from Croatia.
What an intense question ... and a good one at that.
I wanted to stop in and say hello!
This is going to be a long answer, and I will bookmark a return visit after work tomorrow. I can then mull it over in my head too!
Have a super week,
Eric
Love those flowers. Thanks for dropping by. Godbless.
Beautiful flower and your words are very meaningful and inspiring
Lovely purple flowers!
Have great Monday!
A pretty spectacular flower and from the details given, I'm sure these flowers captivated lots of heart :)
A beautiful flower for the pond. At first glance I thought it might be a Eichhornia crassipes, the common water hyacinth. It is very beautiful looking a little like an orchid flower, but it is banned now because it grows and spreads so rapidly it chokes the waterways. In some country they use it for silo fodder. Your gorgeous pond flower would be a good substitute if it grows in the warmer climates.
I love day lilies too, they are such an easy rewarding plant. I have an wonderful pink Azalea, it is called "Dreamtime"! Thank you for your visit and have a nice week.
BEAUTIFUL PHOTO!!
have a nice week!
Very beautiful! I've seen those flowers before but didn't know what it was. Probably won't remember the next time I see it either. :)
"Follow your dreams don't let anything stop you."
That's the most important think in our live.
Lovely flower!
McKay

t is gorgeous flower. Thanks for the visit.
beautiful post. Brendan's story touched me so much. It really reminds me of the frailty of life. Yes, live your dreams....let nothing stop you. Life is precious and not one moment should be wasted
I have a dream for one world for all mankind, no differences, no country boundaries. I already post it into my blog, and placed there forever.
