Joy in the Morning

After suffering for two weeks with a cold that was so bad I began to think it was the flu, I awoke Sunday morning well. I sat in bed waiting on the aches, sneezing and coughing. They never came. It was nothing short of a miracle to me. I had not been able to set up for any length of time. I could not bear to hear my phone ring or any other noise for that matter. Except for checking in with my family to let them know I was OK, my phone was off. I was imposing self-induced isolation. That is the way I cope with illness.

But, on Sunday morning, it was all over. I sat there mediating and giving thanks for my healing. I then went to my favorite spot (the window of the bathroom adjacent to my bedroom), looked out at the new day and was once again the recipient of a breath taking sunrise. The results are the above photos.

Who would not want to witness such beauty? I truly felt the joy of that new morning.

Later, while viewing the results of my mini photo shoot, I was reminded of the many people we encounter in a life time. The airplane vapors streaking across the morning sky reminded me of people who come into our lives. Our paths crossing just that quickly.

Eventually, only we remain with our individual fleeting memories of the encounter. I prayed that the people I had met would remember me fondly. I prayed that once they left my life, for what ever reason, they thought their lives were richer for the experience.

I am grateful for those experiences and I am thankful for the people who helped to create them.

The rest of the day was spent making phone calls to family and friends thanking them for their positive energy. It was a good day. and for that I am so grateful!

Fantastic pictures! The colors are so beautiful. After suffering through two weeks of agony and being blessed to be well, you must have felt like the Universe was saying "You're Welcome" when you looked out that window. Absolutly amazing shots.

Continued healing and Blessings,

PKH

That morning was so pretty I still look at those pictures and say; "I woke up to this."

I did not even have to put on a robe. It is amazing how we are loved and blessed. All we have to do is look.

But, YOU know that. Thanks for the comment.

Be well!

Mckay k,

I'm sorry I haven't commented here in awhile. Between the holidays, writing my own blog, trying to keep up with email (trying being the operative word), and now an abscessed tooth plus possibly a virus... things have been pretty busy.

Your pictures are beautiful... as the pictures on your blog always are.

I am home by myself today. I'm sick and don't need to share it with others. (I know this is the time of year for sharing but not the germ kind of sharing if you know what I mean). :)

Anyway, we survived a power outage last night. Opening our presents in the dark was interesting. Of course, we first had to turn off all of the smoke alarms. (Don't worry. No fire. Related to the power outage. Long story).

Anyway, I'm home alone and I just took my latest round of painkillers.

I am scheduled to have my abscessed tooth extracted tomorrow. They squeezed me in for an emergency appointment before I got sick yesterday. I can't help but think that maybe the tooth infection spread to my sinuses and that this would explain my runny nose, froggy voice, and so on.

However, I wasn't going to chance it today. I don't need to infect a houseful of people on Christmas.

So, I'll call the oral surgeon when they open in the morning and see if they want me to come in or not. I can't eat for 8 hours beforehand because they are going to put me out for it (due to my complicated medical history they thought it best not to do it while I'm awake and I tend to agree with them on that).

If they think my symptoms are tooth infection-related, then obviously the sooner I get in the better. If not, I don't want to get them sick and may need to get re-scheduled and get stuck with the dental deductible for 2009.

In any event, I'm thankful for my warm house, my electricity being back on, my nice phone call just now with family members at my parents' house (where I'm supposed to be), getting to talk with my mother-in-law on the phone this morning, getting to talk to my father-in-law and step-mother-in-law on the phone last night, my friends, my local support group members, and having wonderful blogger friends like you who have such a positive spirit and who make the world a better place!

I'm glad to hear you're starting to feel better!

You have such insightful, positive, thoughtful posts and your words comfort and educate so many people.

I hope you are having a wonderful Christmas! Thank you for the beautiful pictures!

Jeanne

Spedycat, I am certainly returning the well wishes and Merry Christmas. I hope your day with your granddaughter was heart warming. She is a doll!

Jeanne, I am sending positive energy filled with love your way. Hopefully the dentist will be able to prescribe something to relieve your symptoms Friday.

I am touched that you took the time out of your very sick day to visit me and leave a comment. You are truly a good friend.

Take care of yourself and let me know how you are doing.

This is a demand GET WELL!

LiaaNewton; Thank you. You comments are much appreciate and it is never too late to wish someone well.

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and may your new year be filed with unspeakable joy!

Mckay k,

I "survived" the extraction. (see my blog for details). Won't be doing nitrous oxide again! Glad it's behind me.

I'm VERY grateful the pain "like electric shocks to my tooth"!!) has stopped. Now it's just normal "healing pain".

I'll take it!! I'm grateful!

I hope you are well!!

Jeanne
